A Prayer for Mealticket.

Have I mentioned that nepotism is alive and well at my work? It is. Of the people who currently work where I work, I can think of 5 people off of the top of my head who were hired for such a reason.

Now I have a small set of mental segue's to run you through about one of these guys. We'll call him Kram. Now Kram has been working for our company for several years. When the warehouse that I work for merged with another division of my company, he came over. You see he used to work there as a shipper, however all those functions were taken over by the warehouse, so here he is.

Now Kram isn't your ideal employee. He doesn't tend to think things through, has a minimal education, has no consistancy, and has an overly exuberant and hedonistic lifestyle that sometimes carries over to the workplace. He has been banned from using indoor equipment, written up more times than I can count, banned from using outdoor equipment, banned from using all equipment, banished to the pipeyard to follow the pipe yard guy around like a lost puppy helping out, and so on.

I figure that every superviser or manager who has ever had to deal directly with him has submitted the termination form for him, just to see their hopes dashed as the Store Manager or the district manager tear it up. Why can't they fire him? Nepotism.

Now, everything else aside, I like the guy and actually think that he could be an asset to the orginization. How? Well, he needs resonably close supervision, and guidance. Aside from that you make sure he has simple tasks to perform. Seems like a fairly easy solution. Heck, we had him doing all of our direct to customer shipping for a couple months and he didn't do too bad. The best part was that since he felt somewhat valuable, he was more consistant. Anyway, that being said, his consistancy is a little off, and that caused him to be pulled off again.

So my boss, having a few brain cells to rub togeather, says to himelf, "Hey, pointy haired idiot guy, you can't have Kram fired, but if you make his life miserable enough, he just might quit." and that's that. So now what should Kram be doing? For 40 hours a week even? Well, he sweeps the floor. He has to sweep the entire warehouse 2 times a day. Its never been cleaner.

Personally, however, I don't think this is fair. You pulled him off of Shipping and made him feel valueless, so what do you get for it? Him quitting? Nope, wrong awnser alex, because Kram, seeing the exploitable elements of the situation, (and having a few brain cells to rub togeather) says to himself "Hey, Kram, they would'a fired you if they coulda, but they didn't so they can't. This means, I can spend my day doing whatever I want, playing around, talking, taking double long breaks, comming in late, leaving early, and they can't do anything more that write me up about it and yell at me for it." And so he does.

And you know what, he's right, in the right, and rightly so.

Secretly, a bunch of people who know and like Kram encourage this sort of behavior, because Kram is right, and Pointy isn't. They tell him to hang in there however boring it gets. They say that Pointy can't touch him. They say that every day he's a thorn in pointy's side, they'll cheer his name, and raise a pint in his honour.

I'm one of them.

Well, Troy was good, but Homer, I don't think, shouldn't be credited for it. The casting was good, the acting was good (except for the british accents carrying through) even the story was good. I'm just curious what happened in the 3500ish days that they left out of the movie. I mean, there must have been something noteworthy in those days, but nope, nothing apperently happened.

In other news I then rented Dirty Pretty Things. Now this is a movie that kicked major butt. Audrey Toutou did a great job, heck they all did a great job. In fact, Cam, you need to see this movie. I won't spoil it for anyone, but it definetly reinforced my faith in lower budget british films, and bbc prouductions in general.

Anyway, I'm off to sleep, perchance to dream now, gnite all.

Well, off to see Troy. I saw that Homer got a writing credit for it, but I'm not really sure he'd want one. Mabey thats just my cynacism speaking out. I renewed my domain again today, so all those lovely folks who read it can continue to be baffled by my occasional update. I find it amusing, and occasionally depressing, that almost all of my subdomains have higher traffic than mine. Course if I bothered to update on a regular basis, then I'm sure I'd to better.

Oh well, time to go see Brad and Orlando get it on.

So it appears that tierel, much like aylee, has decided to be cocooned to morf into somenthing different. Its kinda sad and I'll miss it.

For those of you who haven't heard: Tierel is a roleplaying game. I have been playing since 1998ish and so it is my longest standing game. Tierel has gone through many forms and players but it stands as a game, where all forms of fantasy contribute to the plot and so much has happened that you can never quite remember enough to react (well I never can anyway.)

I'll name some of the characters, player and non: (Please remember I haven't seen many of these names spelled so I have no idea)

Tarein (sp?) - Possibly the first character of the game. Warlord of the Sylvain empire Rein is a sorcerer of near limitless power and swordsman with no equal. He is also crazy. Married to Akiriko and sister of Tenari. He has many more reletaves but those are all I'll go into.

Korbek - Warlord of the Daroche empire, Korbek is a very powerful wizard and member of the order of the onyx eye. He has no blood kin save his son Kadir. Korbek is married to Blaze, in one of her guises.

Reuban - Emperor, I can't seem to remember of where at the moment, he is a powerful Pre-Cog (Forseeing).

Jamis - Jamis is the warlord of Magnetia, a powerful wizard. He is the most cunning man ever, save of course for his life long enemy, Solanis.

Solanis - Lord of Solanese, spymaster par excellence. Hater of all things Thelanian

Roach - Shapeshifter, warlord of Thelaine.

Nickago - Triclops, (Wizard, sorcer and mage) plus half dragon, very powerful. Currently Reuban's warlord.

Ambrose - Warlord of Kitane, sorceror and half dragon (I think).

Dalyn Nightblade- Half Krakyr, plus a sorcerer(?) plus an sylvan thief. Dalyn is whimsical and unstable.

Cassius Magnus - Member of order of onyx eye, triclops, not powerful so much as incredably canny... and, lest we forget, petty. Assistant Warlord to Jamis, currently.

Stephan Banal - Genetic engineer, hater of all things thelanian. Works for Solanis.

Katya - Strong Physical Adept, warlord of Vegar. Married to Karl.

Luthane - Very strong sorcerer, Crazy, Self interested. Former Warlord of Reuban.

Roysha - Mercanary Captain. a Sorcerer, I think.

(?) - Jedi Master. one of Karl's teachers.

Blaze - Spymisteress, seductress, and general S#!t Disturber.

Riata - Physical Adept, Former Warlord of Vegar, and Katya's sister.

Karl - Married to Katya, Former Warlord of Vegar, Former Jedi (Don't ask), One of the strongest Physical Adepts alive.

Tenari - Sylvan Queen, Tareign's Sister, and definetly NOT DEAD!

Mikhail Petrova - Son of minor nobility, general dilletante, luckiest man alive.

Kin - Blood mage, member of Kitane's royal family.

Shoudra - Sorcerer, Jamis's pupil, moralless bastard.

Sonya - Publicly 'Hung out to Dry' due to Cas's macinations.

Thats enough for now, I may add more later.

In memorandum, Tierel.

So I'm back.

It was an eventful vacation, I got to meet some incredably cool reletives. We walked through the Bouchart Gardens togeather and then went to dinner. We went whale watching, canoeing, walking through rainforests, surfing, and just generally relaxing. It was a good vacation. And it was not quite long enough for the family to start fighting (well not the family just me and my dad.) And so work beckons. and mabey tierel.

(Apperently my parents used to own 2 cats, which they gave up when my sister was born. Their names were Kass and Kasu)
(Apperently that means Cat and Kitten in Estonian)

Hey folks, Sorry about the recent delay. (Though, by now those few readers who are left have come to expect it.) VGAP is well underway in the planning stages, my other game (Yet untitled) is in its heavy plot stages. Aside from that I am ready to go away, to Tofino. I shall be gone till mid next week (probabally won't be actively doing anything until thursday after work. I'm thinking about treating myself to some surfing lessons :). Anyway, I do have somenthing comming down the pipe to be posted here, the post is at a couple pages and growing, in the old Chimerical style.

So thats all I got for ya.

Have a fun week.
